E&I Supervision Auxiliary Heating Plant Amsterdam-Noord
From 1 October 2026, KTS supplies an E&I supervisor for the realisation of the new auxiliary heating plant (HWC) at Het Groene Veld in Amsterdam-Noord, with Vattenfall as end client. An assignment of 9 to 12 months during the construction and commissioning phase.
Project description
At Het Groene Veld in Amsterdam-Noord, a new auxiliary heating plant is being built for the fast-growing district heating network, with Vattenfall as end client. The district will soon count more than 14,000 district heating connections. During severe frost, maintenance or calamities, the HWC supplies the extra heat the network needs at that moment.
The plant is designed as a peak and back-up facility: an unmanned installation that runs a maximum of 750 full-load hours per year under its permit. Construction continues into 2027, after which the installation goes into operation.
Our role
- Supply of an E&I supervisor for the realisation phase: from 1 October 2026, for 9 to 12 months
- Supervision of the installation of electrical systems and instrumentation (E&I)
- Quality and progress monitoring of the E&I installation work on site
- Coordination and alignment with the installation and construction parties involved
- Verification of compliance with specifications, standards and safety requirements
- Support during testing, loop checks and preparation for commissioning
About the installation
An auxiliary heating plant is the flexible shell around a district heating network. The vast majority of the heat comes from the regular heat source all year round; the HWC only steps in when demand peaks or supply drops out. Precisely because the installation is unmanned and runs only occasionally, the electrical systems and instrumentation determine its reliability: the plant must be remotely operable and start without fail the moment the network calls for it.
